Mercy:

Dog • Young • Pit Bull Terrier Mix  • Female • Medium

Meet Mercy! Mercy entered our rescue when we realized she was about to be put down after being in a high kill shelter for an entire month! She is estimated to be roughly a year old.  She is petite in size, weighing only 40 lbs. Mercy has done AMAZING with dogs of all sizes and is currently in a foster home with 6 other dogs.  She typically greets other dogs with a kiss , play bow and wiggle.  She has done well with cats too!  Mercy's ideal home is with another dog, and preferably a fenced in yard.  Mercy is shy with strangers but blossoms when around other dogs.  She is completely house trained and crate trained. She is still a puppy in a lot of ways and has the tendency to chew on things...so we strongly recommend crating her when she is left unsupervised.  Mercy is spayed, micro chipped, up to date on vaccines and ready for a place to call home. If you are interested in adopting Mercy, please fill out an application.

Mama:

Cat • Senior • Domestic Short Hair • Female • Small

Meet Mama! Mama is a petite former stray/semi feral cat that we have known for roughly 6 years. She was a former colony cat at one of our feeding stations in Dorchester where we fed daily. Mama is called Mama because when we first came across her she had a tiny black kitten that followed her everywhere she went. Her kitten was taken in by the Animal Rescue League of Boston back in 2012. and found a home then. In April of 2017 we realized Mama was drastically losing weight, despite having a ravenous appetite. We took her in and sure enough she is diabetic. Since then her diabetes has been regulated and she is on insulin injections twice daily. She has adjusted to life indoors well but doesn't enjoy the company of dogs and most cats. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and estimated to be roughly 7-8 years old, a young senior. We realize the odds of finding a senior semi feral former street cat with diabetes a home is like finding a needle in a hay stack but we are up for the challenge! Mama is a great girl so we have our fingers crossed for her. If you are interested in adopting Mama please fill out an application.

Gigi and Romeo:

Dog • Adult • Female/Male • Mini Pins • Small

Meet Romeo and Gigi they are 6 year old Min Pins that are siblings...two incredibly sweet dogs! Both enjoy just being with you, sleeping near you, going on walks, dancing for treats and just being all around loving pups. Gigi, the bigger one with floppy ears, is slightly overweight so you'll need to watch her treats. Her favorite thing is to wrap her paws around your neck and snuggle with you. She'll give you lots of kisses as well. Gigi loves attention and rewards you with her love. Romeo, the smallest of the two, was named appropriately. He's a big flirt and love bug. He hates to not be included...he'll jump right in and demand his fair share of your attention! Offer him treats and he'll dance for you. Both enjoy their walks throughout the day very much; but need to be on their leash. They are not trained to stay by your side. They love doggie daycare and enjoy other dogs. They can be a little protective over their home but get used to guest and other dogs after a little adjust time. They love kids but can be startled by quick motions and lots if running around. They like to chase cats, but might do ok with younger cats that can put them in their place. They were given up to due to not being in the right home. Gigi was owned from 8 weeks old and Romeo was rescued from the same Breeder 3 years ago. The prior owners had run out of time to give these guys a good life, and they required a little training on barking and visitors entering. They have been together for 3 years now. Both habits are controlled now. Gigi and Romeo are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together and they are required to have a fenced in yard. If interested in Gigi and Romeo please contact us at info@chewiespland.com or call/text 603-921-0525.

He is roughly 45 lbs, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and heart worm negative. He is currently in a foster home with other dogs and a cat. Sirius will REQUIRE a home with dogs, preferably a pack because he is still semi feral in many ways despite his foster’s best efforts to socialize him. Sirius gets easily spooked by loud noises, sudden movement and is a flight risk. He ran away initially and thanks to a hired tracker we were able to retrieve him. Sirius is a very attractive dog but he sadly suffers from a previous hip injury/ trauma and will undergo surgery January 12th at the MSPCA. We are hoping that after his 6 week recover period Sirius will have a forever home come Valentine's day. He would make the perfect Valentine! Sirius has made a lot of progress in his foster home despite his challenges, he will cuddle and he will follow you around especially if you are cooking!
