Mama:

Cat • Senior • Domestic Short Hair • Female • Small

Meet Mama! Mama is a former stray/semi feral cat that we have known for roughly 6 years. She was a former colony cat at one of our feeding stations in Dorchester where we feed daily. Mama is called Mama because when we first came across her she had a tiny black kitten that followed her everywhere she went. Her kitten was taken in by the Animal Rescue League of Boston back in 2012. and found a home then. In April of 2017 we realized Mama was drastically losing weight, despite having a ravenous appetite. We took her in and sure enough she is diabetic. Since then her diabetes has been regulated and she is on insulin injections twice daily. She has adjusted to life indoors well but doesn't enjoy the company of dogs and most cats. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated felv/fiv negative and estimated to be roughly 7-8 years old, a young senior. Mama has been in our rescue for an entire year and has made tremendous strides. She has allowed a lot of handling which is required to give her insulin injections twice daily. She would still like to be an only pet but would be sure to thank you if you gave her a chance at being your one and only!
